Privacy policy.

This is the privacy policy for CS Designs. It covers what happens to the details you send me through this site, and what my CS Designs Inspiration tool does with Pinterest data. I've kept it short and in plain English.

Who I am

I'm Christian Deacon. I run CS Designs, a one-person web design business based in Ascot, Berkshire. I'm responsible for any personal details you send me through this site.

If you have a question about this policy, email me at christian@csdesigns.uk.

What the contact form collects

When you send the form, I get:

  • your name
  • your email address
  • your message, and anything you choose to put in it

To stop the form being used for spam, the site also holds your IP address in memory for up to an hour to count how many messages have come from it. It isn't saved with your message or sent to me.

This site doesn't use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers.

Why I use it

I use your details to reply to you, send you a quote, and follow up about the work you've asked about. That's it. I won't add you to a mailing list, and I won't sell or share your details for anyone else's marketing.

Under UK data protection law, my reason for using your details this way is that you've asked me about working together, and replying to you is the step you've asked me to take. It's also in both our interests for me to follow up on that enquiry.

Where it goes

The form sends your message to my email inbox, and that's where it stays. I don't copy it into any other system. If that changes, I'll update this page.

A few companies handle it along the way: Vercel, which hosts this website; Resend, which delivers the form to my inbox and keeps a record of sent emails for a short time; and Microsoft, which provides my email through GoDaddy. They only process it to provide those services to me. Some of their systems are outside the UK. Where that's the case, they use the safeguards UK law requires.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiry emails for 12 months after we were last in touch, then I delete them.

If you become a client, I'll keep what I need for the project and my business records for as long as the law requires, for example invoices for tax purposes.

CS Designs Inspiration (Pinterest)

CS Designs Inspiration is a private tool I built for my own work. It connects to my own Pinterest account so an AI assistant (Claude, made by Anthropic) can look through the design ideas I've saved while I plan websites. Only I use it. It isn't offered to other Pinterest users, and nobody else can sign in to it.

After I sign in with Pinterest and give permission, the tool can read:

  • my boards and their names
  • the pins saved on them: titles, descriptions, notes, images, videos and links
  • basic details of my own Pinterest account, such as my username

It only reads. It doesn't post, edit, save or delete anything on Pinterest, and it can't see other people's boards. Pins I've saved can include other people's public work, which I use for inspiration only.

Pinterest data is fetched when I ask for it and isn't kept in a database. The sign-in key Pinterest gives the tool is stored securely in my Vercel hosting account, and I can cancel it at any time in my Pinterest settings. I don't sell or share Pinterest data, use it for advertising, or combine it with anything else. Vercel (which runs the tool) and Anthropic (which provides the AI assistant) handle it only to provide those services to me.

If something of yours appears in a pin I've saved and you'd like it removed from my boards, email me at christian@csdesigns.uk.

Your rights, and getting it deleted

You can ask me for a copy of the details I hold about you, ask me to correct them, or ask me to delete them. You can also object to how I'm using them, or ask me to stop using them for a while.

To do any of that, email christian@csdesigns.uk. It's free, and I'll reply within one month.

If you're not happy with how I've handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. I'd appreciate the chance to sort it out with you first, though.
